Notifications not working correctly in iOS 10?

I like Scrabble - a lot.
I have two beefs with the current version.
1) The chat function is very outmoded and doesnt allow you to correct something without having to backspace through everything back to the point you need to correct.
2) Since I upgraded to iOS10 - the notication or badge or whatever it is that tells me that someone else has played and its my turn - does not turn off. So it said "2" up in the corner and I went in and played a word in 2 games. Closed the app. It still says 2. Means I have to open the app to see if its my turn to play. Lame.
